I was recently asked if I would like to try online food ordering service takeaway.com and was sent a £20 voucher in return for an honest review.
Takeaway.com started out in The Netherlands in 2000 and is now developing their service in many European countries. They have over 20,000 members and offer a wide range of cuisines including the usual suspects such as Chinese, Indian and Pizza. You can order food via their website or using the iPhone or Android apps and if your local takeaway is equipped with the Food Tracker ™ then you can even follow the progress of you order.
I decided to order my takeaway via the Takeaway.com website. You can just type in your postcode and it will show you participating restaurants who will deliver to you and whether or not they are open. If you fancy something specific you can filter the results by cuisine type which was handy because we fancied pizza! I was pleased to see a couple of our regular choices for pizza where on there and we decided to go with Tops Pizza.
The ordering process was very straight forward; once you have selected a restaurant, all of the menu items are listed on the left hand side and categorised as they would be on a normal menu. You simply add the items that you want to your basket and I was impressed by how easy it was to customise things. Once you are done, you pay for order or if you restaurant accepts cash at the door you can choose this option instead...And that's it, just sit back and wait for your food to arrive!
My food arrived promptly, which to be fair it always does from Tops but this showed me that the transition from Takeaway.com over to Tops Pizza was working great!
Verdict
Well my food order arrived correctly and on time which is all you ever want from a takeaway and takeaway.com made the process very easy. Everything is set out in a very user friendly format and I also liked that if you fancied trying somewhere new, then all of the information you need such as user reviews, opening times and accepted payment methods is right there for you so you can make an informed decision.
