REVIEW! Wonka Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Nice Cream Bars
Posted on the 03 January 2014 by Thereviewaddict @TheReviewAddictThere is a bit of stock rotation going on today. Due to the amount of chocolate that I have received recently for Christmas and for review I thought that I had better get to trying these Wonka bars that have been sat in the review box for quite a while. To be honest I have been putting of reviewing these because I have read lots of other reviews that indicated that they were pretty poor bars from Nestle so I haven't exactly rushed to eat them.
I did review the Millionaires Shortbread back in September and whilst I didn't mind the taste of it, it didn't excite me and I certainly haven't purchased it again. Mr Review Addict bought me the Chocolate Ice Cream bar in a local newsagents and my brother got me the Crème Brûlée bar in Tesco.
Crème Brûlée is described as vanilla creme with a caramel crunch. 2 pieces of a 100g bar contain 111 calories and there was quite a fuss about this in the Daily Mail. Given all that I have read about this bar I almost wanted to dislike it as strange as that sounds but actually I thought it was really nice! The chocolate was OK, standard Nestle so nothing special but nice enough. However I thought that the vanilla filling and the caramel crunch was a fab combination. It was really sweet and I loved the texture of the crunchy bits which reminded me a bit of little pieces of Daim bar.
VerdictAm I really the only one who enjoyed this bar? I do have a ridiculously sweet tooth so perhaps that is why.
In complete contrast, Chocolate Nice Cream which contains 193 calories is what I can only describe as rank and that is not a word that I often associate with chocolate! I don't know what is going on with this bar but I actually thought that it tasted of cardboard. I tried to taste each element separately to work out where this taste was coming from and I concluded that seeing as the white filling tastes of absolutely nothing, it had to be coming from the so called chocolate sauce. It certainly didn't taste of chocolate to me and it almost had a bitter taste to it.
Verdict
There really isn't much more I can say about Chocolate Nice Cream to be honest. I rarely throw away chocolate but the rest of the bar was swiftly ditched!
