THE GOOD AND BAD SIDES OF LASER SKIN TIGHTENING
Many people think of laser skin tightening procedures as being quick, permanent fixes for annoying wrinkles and sagging skin. However, not all of the assumptions made about the procedures are true. Not only that, but like any medical procedure, laser treatments have their good and bad sides.
The Results of Laser Treatments Are Not Always Quick or Permanent First of all, laser procedures don't always produce fast results. Some of them do, like laser skin resurfacing, but laser skin tightening is a little different. Sometimes a tightening procedure might  not show any immediate difference, but you might see improvement a week or two later, after your body has a chance to start producing more collagen and repairing your skin cells. If you have ever used laser machines to treat your skin before then you know another bad side, which is that one appointment won't do. You will probably need a series of 5 or more treatments at first. Later on, you might decide to have even more.

Lasers Are Relatively Easy Treatment Methods
A good thing about going in for a laser appointment is that they are relatively easy. The appointments aren't generally painful, and most of the time they take less than an hour. You might experience a little temporary heat, discomfort, bruising, or swelling, but it isn't as painful as some other treatments, nor is there a lot of recovery time involved. That said, there are a few things you will need to do to prepare for your treatment, such as wear sunblock or stay totally out of the sun for a couple weeks both before and after your treatment. You also can't wear lotions, creams, perfumes, or other products on your appointment day because the heat from the lasers can react with those products and burn your skin.

Laser Treatment After Care is Also Fairly Easy After you go in for a laser appointment, you might be wondering what you have to do to protect your skin during the healing process. Well, your skincare clinic should provide you with a medicated cream to use and remind you to keep your skin clean. It's also important to use a good moisturizer daily to help your skin heal.

Some People Shouldn't Have Laser Treatments Even though laser treatments are relatively easy, that doesn't mean that everyone should run right out and have one. Certain people are simply not meant to be treated by lasers. For instance, those with oily skin should generally seek other treatment methods. People on tight budgets may also want to avoid laser treatments, since they are usually out-of-pocket, as opposed to being covered by medical insurance. Also, multiple treatments are required. Therefore, the costs can add up quickly.

Researching Laser Treatment Clinics in Your Area If you do want to have a laser treatment and your doctor or dermatologist concurs with your decision, your next step will be to choose a laser clinic. You will first have to find one that has the type of machine and procedure you want, but don't assume that means that the clinicians know what they are doing. You also need to research the clinic itself thoroughly, make sure the employees are fully certified, ask questions, and check references. Then you can make sure that you are choosing a clinic you can trust.
