As part of my 2012 transformation to ready for an amazing 2013, I recently had the opportunity to take Deborah Deras' Vision Board Workshop in West Los Angeles.
It was an amazing experience that I recommend everyone go through at least once in their life!
The First Step I set-up my "intentions" for the upcoming year, by breaking them into four areas that are of importance to me: My Health, My Relationship, My Career, and "Fun" (Travel, etc.).

The Process After you read all these amazing quotes/teachings you are ready to pull images, words, colors, and other visuals that will help you plan your new year. However, do note that unless you embody it, live it, talk it, and breath it, your vision board is simply a board with pretty pictures.
For example, the year I met my hubby, I cleared up a drawer in my chest for the man that wouldn't come, then go. (I had another boyfriend at the time that was absent more than present). Although I was dating, everything in my home was representative of a single life: I owned one of most everything, I always cooked for just myself, etc. But when I started believing that a man would come into my life that would be my husband (not just a phone call and a date type of guy), I cooked for two (even if I had left-overs for lunch), talked about we, and even (accidentally) purchased a set of razors for men!
My hubby, as ya'll know, came into my life when I least expected him, but I was ready. We were both ready...and the rest is history.
I also had in my vision board a client that I wanted to (desperately) work with.
The happiest place on earth was a far-fetched idea, but I was later invited to co-bid on a project. We won, and they were my client for a couple of years!
Although I had the experience, and my team the talent, I didn't keep it a secret that my vision board kept me focused and inspired to win this account (and many more!).
Most people in my life got it, but not everyone did. Just the same, as you create your own vision for the next year and make changes in your life to ready yourself for what is to come, not everyone will understand what you are doing.
Remember that it doesn't matter. Embrace it, and other people can get it later. Your goals, your vision, is yours and yours alone. A vision board is between you and your higher power.
