It’s been slow going on the blog lately as Mr. A and I have had back-to-back-to-back weekend crammed full of errands, quality family time, and visits from friends. On top of that, we had to replace Mr. A’s car unexpectedly. A few weeks ago, we were sitting on the highway in afternoon rush hour traffic when our car got slammed from the rear. We were luckily and thankfully fine but Mr. A’s poor car was not. So on top of our plans, we had to squeeze in car shopping (I get there are worse problems to have). But rather than leave you out in the cold for the week, I thought I would share a few fun pictures from our weekend.
Friday started off with a bang as we headed out to Camden Yards to celebrate the O’s first home game of the season.
It was one of the most electric crowds I remember in ages. I think everyone is still living off our of Super Bowl victory and the first postseason Orioles appearance in years.
I was also irrationally excited to try the brand new to Camden Yards crab dip waffle fries. They were the perfect Maryland treat. Mr. A tried to grab his own but they ran out by the fourth inning. We, Marylanders sure do love our crabs.
Much like the crab fries, the Os surely didn’t disappoint as Chris Davis, resident hunk and hulk, smashed out his season’s first grand slam, soaring the Os to a victory over the Twins. It was the perfect way to start the weekend.
Saturday promised to be equally exciting since we got to pick up our brand new car. This gorgeous 2013 Honda CRV. We’ve officially moved into parent carland, mainly spurred by seeing just how thoroughly demolished our sedan was after the crash. We figured this will be the perfect car for toting around kiddos and their accompanying gear (no, I’m not pregnant—just planning ahead). This is the first time either one of us has owned a brand new car. We went into the search thinking we’d buy a used car but with the economy the way it is purchasing a new CRV didn’t require that much more money. So I’ll be parking this baby far away from everyone’s shopping carts for awhile.
After round 1,000 of unsuccessful house hunting adventures, we came back to our apartment to greet our adorable date for the night.
This little lady. One of Mr. A’s best friends was in town for the weekend and he asked if we would babysit their daughter while he and his fiancée went out for a date. You know I hopped all over this opportunity. Tugging at my heartstrings, Mr. A kept stealing her from me every chance he got. I think he has a special place in his heart for his goddaughter.
The weekend ended on a surprisingly inspiring note when I went with my Mom to see Theresa Caputo in Baltimore. While I don’t watch Long Island Medium or really care that much about psychics, I spent the entire show bawling my eyes out. There were so many people in that audience that had suffered unbearable tragedies. Woman after woman who had lost multiple children. Teenage girls who had lost their sisters and brothers. Wives who had lost their husbands all too soon. Regardless of whether her psychic abilities are real, I left feeling a whole new respect and gratitude for my life. All things considers, I’ve got a pretty easy, very blessed life.
What did you guys do this weekend? Anything unexpected?
